The Young Professionals Programme of NATO (YPP), is designed to attract, nurture and develop highly talented individuals eager to advance in their career through entry-level jobs within the NATO Alliance. The selected candidates will be given the opportunity to gain diverse experience across the NATO organization by working in various NATO bodies.
Programme Structure
The YPP participants will spend one year each in three NATO organizations over a period of three years. This rotation will allow candidates to gain a broader understanding of NATO and develop their skills across multiple fields within the organization. Participants may receive an offer of a three-year extension of their contract at one of NATO’s bodies upon completion of the program, depending on the needs of the organization and the performance of the participant.

You will rotate through three NATO organizations, working in one or several related fields. You may be able to stay with a NATO body for three additional years after completing the YPP. This will allow you to develop your skills and advance your career.

Participants in the YPP will be involved in a variety of activities aligned with NATO’s objectives, addressing needs for the Alliance. This program will help you develop your skills, gain knowledge and build your professional network in NATO’s vibrant community.

Young Professionals receive a competitive annual salary, health insurance and reimbursement of travel expenses. They also get 30 days paid leave per year, as well as access to a variety of training opportunities.
Application Process
The deadline for applications to the NATO YPP program is October 27th, 2024. Early applications are encouraged. Below are the steps to apply:
1. Confirm Your Eligibility
You must meet these criteria to be eligible at the time of your application:
- Age: 21+
- Nationality Must be a NATO citizen
- Professional experience : Minimum one year professional experience including full-time employment or temporary roles.
- Status of Education: Master’s Degree or Equivalent from a Recognized Institution
- Languages : Proficient in either English or French, the other language is an asset
Examine Vacancy Adverts
Examine the available positions and make sure your education and experience matches what is required. You can apply to multiple roles, but focus your efforts on those for which you have the most qualifications.
3. Create an account
Create an account using NATO’s electronic recruitment system by clicking on “Sign in” and choosing “New User.” Applications submitted via email or mail will not be considered.
4. Prepare Your Application
After selecting a position, answer the questions for pre-screening and enter your professional and personal details. Include a scanned version of your diploma or other relevant documents.
5. Submit Your Application
Submit your application after reviewing it. Your application will be acknowledged via email. The candidates will be informed about the results in the months that follow the deadline. After the deadline, applications will not be reviewed.
