The University of Innsbruck offers an exciting opportunity to a motivated person who is interested in joining the Department of Mathematics as a University assistant (Postdoc). The successful candidate will be able to conduct independent research, participate in research projects and have administrative and teaching responsibilities.

Research Area

This role is primarily concerned with probabilistic theory. Research areas include but are not limited to

  • Random walks in graphs and groups
  • Aggregation models like sandpiles
  • Random branching walks
  • Probability theory and related fields

The candidate must have excellent English skills and experience in Project Management. They should also be able to demonstrate problem-solving creativity.

Eligibility and Qualifications

The applicant must meet the following requirements:

EducationCompletion of doctoral/PhD study (preferably in Probability Theory)
Completion dateThe PhD should be obtained by the 1st February 2025.

Job Responsibilities

The University Assistant (Postdoctoral) is responsible for:

  • Independent research on probability theory and related fields
  • Participation in Research Projects Within the Department
  • Students engaging in teaching Activities
  • Take on administrative duties in the department
  • Participating in conference and Congresses will help to advance research efforts
  • Education and training for personal and departmental development
